April 17-23, 2017, wk 16

During each week of 2017, a (1) devotional consisting of a reading (or listening) from Scripture, a (2) New City Catechism question and answer (, a (3) primary scripture passage behind that Q&A and a scripture to consider in prayer, a (4) prayer project for the week, and then finally, a (5) song of the week, will be posted to and to the “Devotional” portion of the Reformation Church App. On each Sunday following the devotional, the New City Catechism Q&A and the song of the week (or a song from a previous week) will be used during morning worship service.

  1. Read

Or listen to Bible Reading for the day in the Reformation Church App (1 Chronicles 16:8-23:32, John 10-12, Psalm 53-55, Proverbs 16:1-14).

  2. Memorize

What is Sin? (Kidz Memory in Blue)

Sin is rejecting or ignoring God in the world he created,  rebelling against him by living without reference to him, not being or doing what he requires in his law – resulting in our death and the disintegration of all creation.

  3. Meditate

1 John 3:4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.

Ephesians 4:14, “… no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.”

  4. Pray

“Pray that your church would not be ‘tossed back and forth by the waves.’ What difficult circumstances are threatening to unsettle individuals in your church? What biblical teachings are you tempted to compromise on? Pray that your church would hold steadfastly to the truth. Pray that every member–whether they’re preaching from the front, contributing at a Bible study or chatting over coffee–would remain confident in the truths of God’s word.” – Rachel Jones, 5 Things to Pray for Your Church, p. 17.

Pray for brothers and sisters in directory with last names starting with V – Z.

  5. Sing

The Lion and the Lamb” is our song for the week:
