Private: Devotional

DECEMBER 10 – 16, 2017, WK 50

During each week of 2017, a (1) devotional consisting of a reading (or listening) from Scripture, a (2) New City Catechism question and answer (newcitycatechism.com), a (3) primary scripture passage behind that Q&A and a scripture to consider in prayer, a (4) prayer project for the week, and then finally, a (5) song of the month, will be posted to queensreformation.org/devotional and to the “Devotional” portion of the Reformation Church App. On each Sunday following the devotional, the New City Catechism Q&A and the song of the month (or a song from a previous month) will be used during morning worship service.

  1. Read

Or listen to Bible Reading for the day in the Reformation Church App (Ezekiel 43-48, 2 Peter 3, 1 John, 2 John, Psalm 144-148).

Take a few minutes and watch this overview of 2 Peter:

  • 2. Memorize

What does Christ’s resurrection mean for us? (Kidz Memory in Blue)

Christ triumphed over sin and death by being physically resurrected, so that all who trust in him are raised to new life in this world and to everlasting life in the world to come. Just as we will one day be resurrected, so this world will one day be restored. But those who do not trust in Christ will be raised to everlasting death.

  • 3. Meditate

1 Thessalonians 4:13–14: But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
