Private: Devotional

NOVEMBER 19-25, 2017, WK 47

During each week of 2017, a (1) devotional consisting of a reading (or listening) from Scripture, a (2) New City Catechism question and answer (newcitycatechism.com), a (3) primary scripture passage behind that Q&A and a scripture to consider in prayer, a (4) prayer project for the week, and then finally, a (5) song of the month, will be posted to queensreformation.org/devotional and to the “Devotional” portion of the Reformation Church App. On each Sunday following the devotional, the New City Catechism Q&A and the song of the month (or a song from a previous month) will be used during morning worship service.

  1. Read

Or listen to Bible Reading for the day in the Reformation Church App (Ezekiel 23:29 – 29:21, Hebrews 4:1-12:2, Psalm 134-136:9, Proverbs 29:21-30:10).

Take a few minutes and watch this overview of Hebrews:

  • 2. Memorize

Does the Lord’s Supper add anything to Christ’s atoning work? (Kidz Memory in Blue)

No, Christ died once for all. The Lord’s Supper is a covenant meal celebrating Christ’s atoning work; as it is also a means of strengthening our faith as we look to him, and a foretaste of the future feast. But those who take part with unrepentant hearts eat and drink judgment on themselves.

  • 3. Meditate

1 Peter 3:18: For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God.
