March 6 – 12, 2017, wk 10

During each week of 2017, a (1) devotional consisting of a reading (or listening) from Scripture, a (2) New City Catechism question and answer (newcitycatechism.com), a (3) primary scripture passage behind that Q&A and a scripture to consider in prayer, a (4) prayer project for the week, and then finally, a (5) song of the week, will be posted to queensreformation.org/devotional and to the “Devotional” portion of the Reformation Church App. On each Sunday following the devotional, the New City Catechism Q&A and the song of the week (or a song from a previous week) will be used during morning worship service.

  1. Read

Or listen to Bible Reading for the day in the Reformation Church App (Joel 3 – Amos 9, Mark 6:45-10:34, Psalm 32-34, Proverbs 13:7-20).

  2. Memorize

What does God require in the fourth and fifth commandments? (Kidz Memory in Blue)

Fourth, that on the Sabbath day we spend time in public and private worship of God, rest from routine employment, serve the Lord and others, and so anticipate the eternal Sabbath. Fifth, that we love and honor our father and our mother, submitting to their godly discipline and direction.

  3. Meditate

Leviticus 19:3 Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.

1 Peter 2:9-10, “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

  4. Pray

“Thank God that though ‘once you had not received mercy…now you have received mercy.’ Pray that your church would grow in appreciation of the depth of God’s mercy – and that this would crush any lingering feelings of self-righteousness. Pray that you’d show mercy to each other – forgiving the small things, the big things, and the things that seem to happen again and again.” Rachel Jones, 5 Things to Pray for Your Church, p. 13.

Pray for brothers and sisters in directory with last names starting with D, E, F.

  5. Sing

I Have A Shelter” is our song for the week:
